Light and Life from Beyond
A tapestry

It seems beyond our imagination to conceive of the unending depths of the universe. —from our sun and its reflections on the other planets in our solar system to the billions of stars in our Milky Way (1,000 light-years in diameter) and the countless ancient distant galaxies we cannot see but can only struggle to imagine.
Astrologers and Astronomers throughout our known history have helped us to marvel at the mind-bending miracle of the universe, with the invention of the telescope (credited to Hans Lipperhey during the Renaissance), along with the work of astronomers like Copernicus, Tycho Brahe, and Galileo, to the incredibly evolved Hubble and James Webb telescopes.
Then Miracle of Miracles!
We find ourselves as an essential part of Life on Earth within what climate scientists have come to refer to as the Goldilocks Zone, here seen in this tapestry outlined in gold, as the zone capable of sustaining life as we know it, the temperature between 32- and 212-degrees Fahrenheit—that is, between ICE and BOILING WATER!
In this tapestry, “Light and Life from Beyond” (36 x 70 inches), we can marvel at a beautiful moonlit night, illuminating the rising wave that will grow, crest, and roll onto the beach that the sea turtles have just left behind, as they begin their journey into the complexities of life.
We see above the wave, the flight of the swans, one looking up, seeming to take in the grandeur of the night sky, and below, Dolphins joyfully flip out of the water to share in the wonder of the stars.
The constellations that we see are Draco to the upper left, the Big Dipper pointing towards the North Star (Polaris), and a distant perspective of Earth, our Common Home, close to the Moon, and the constellation Orion to the lower right— some of the wonders that the Ancients marveled at, and which infused their imaginations with the beliefs that would eventually turn into what we know today as religions and the quest for expanding understanding through science.
Below the wave, we see schools of fish being drawn out to sea, which remind us of the spin and dynamics of our planet as it hurtles through and spins in space, bringing about day and night and the seasons, as it has orbited our sun since the beginning.
We are Travelers—astronauts, we are a miracle and the conscience of life on planet Earth. Hopefully, this tapestry helps to awaken us to the miracle of life’s existence, of our being as we are aware of it. The question is not where Earth is going but how we treat her on our journey through our time and space.
Let us strive to work together to preserve what we have for future generations!

“Luz y vida del más allá“

Parece más allá de nuestra imaginación concebir las infinitas profundidades del universo, desde nuestro Sol y sus reflejos en los demás planetas de nuestro sistema solar hasta los miles de millones de estrellas de nuestra Vía Láctea “Milky Way” (de 1.000 años luz de diámetro) y las innumerables galaxias antiguas y distantes que no podemos ver, pero que sólo podemos luchar por imaginar.
Los astrólogos y astrónomos a lo largo de nuestra historia conocida nos han ayudado a maravillarnos ante el asombroso milagro del universo, con la invención del telescopio (atribuido a Hans Lipperhey durante el Renacimiento), junto con el trabajo de astrónomos como Copérnico, Tycho Brahe y Galileo, hasta los increíblemente evolucionados telescopios Hubble y James Webb.
¡Entonces milagro de milagros!
Nos encontramos como parte esencial de la Vida en la Tierra dentro de lo que los científicos del clima han llegado a denominar la Zona Ricitos de Oro (“Goldilocks Zone), aquí vista en este tapiz delineado en oro, como la zona capaz de sustentar la vida tal como la conocemos, la temperatura entre 32 y 212 grados Fahrenheit, es decir, ¡entre el HIELO y el AGUA HIRVIENDO!
En este tapiz, “Luz y vida del más allá” (36 x 70 pulgadas), podemos maravillarnos con una hermosa noche iluminada por la luna, iluminando la ola creciente que crecerá, formará cresta y rodará sobre la playa que las tortugas marinas acaban de dejar atrás, mientras comienzan su viaje hacia las complejidades de la vida.
Vemos por encima de la ola, el vuelo de los cisnes, uno mirando hacia arriba, pareciendo admirar la grandeza del cielo nocturno, y por debajo, delfines saltando alegremente fuera del agua para compartir la maravilla de las estrellas.
Las constelaciones que vemos son Draco en la parte superior izquierda, la Osa Mayor apuntando hacia la Estrella Polar y una perspectiva lejana de la Tierra, nuestro Hogar Común, cerca de la Luna, y la constelación de Orión en la parte inferior derecha; algunas de las maravillas que maravillaron a los antiguos y que infundieron su imaginación con las creencias que eventualmente se convertirían en lo que hoy conocemos como religiones y la búsqueda de expandir la comprensión a través de la ciencia.
Debajo de la ola, vemos bancos de peces que son arrastrados hacia el mar, lo que nos recuerda el giro y la dinámica de nuestro planeta moviéndose y girando en el espacio, dando lugar al día, la noche y las estaciones, ya que ha orbitado nuestro Sol desde el principio.
Somos Viajeros, astronautas, somos un milagro y la conciencia de la vida en el planeta Tierra. Esperemos que este tapiz nos ayude a despertar al milagro de la existencia de la vida, de nuestro ser tal como somos conscientes de él. La pregunta no es hacia dónde se dirige la Tierra, sino cómo la tratamos en nuestro viaje a través del tiempo y el espacio.
