St. Joseph, man of deep Faith. He received his revelations through DREAMS. Hence, I carved him with his eyes closed; the revelation that Mary was to be the mother of God (Mt 1:20), his dream that they should flee to Egypt to escape the murderous wrath and jealousy of King Herod (Mt 2:13)
Shown here, in celebration of St. Joseph’s Feast Day, is my high relief wood sculpture “Holy Family” (42 x 44 inches)

The Holy Family
Joseph, the central figure, with his eyes closed in deep prayer, is the picture of humility through blind faith.
Depicted here is a recollection of Joseph’s prophetic dream (Mt 2:13) when the angel instructed him to flee to safety in Egypt, from the murderous jealousy of King Herod.
Depicted here is a scene in the family’s carpenter shop at Nazareth, with Jesus as an adult with Joseph and Mary, the eve before leaving to begin his ministry (extra biblical)
Today, San Jose Church in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is reopening after a massive reconstruction that took nearly twenty years to complete. Built between 1532 and 1735, it is a restoration of the second-oldest surviving Spanish church in the Americas. Providentially, this coincides with the celebration of The Year of St. Joseph, proclaimed by Pope Francis.

El Evangelio dice poco de él
No se registra ni una sola palabra de José, el carpintero de Nazaret. Y, sin embargo, incluso sin palabras, muestra la profundidad de su fe, su grandeza. (Papa San Juan Pablo II)
San José, hombre de profunda fe. Recibió sus revelaciones mediante sueños. Por eso lo tallé con los ojos cerrados; la revelación de que María sería la madre de Dios (Mt 1,20), su sueño de que debían huir a Egipto para escapar de la ira asesina y los celos del rey Herodes (Mt 2,13).
Aquí se muestra, en celebración de la festividad de San José, mi escultura de madera en alto relieve “Sagrada Familia” (42 x 44 pulgadas).
El escenario es el Templo (Lucas 2:41-50)
La Sagrada Familia José, la figura central, con los ojos cerrados en profunda oración, es la imagen de la humildad a través de la fe ciega.
Aquí se representa un recuerdo del sueño profético de José (Mt 2,13), cuando el ángel le ordenó huir a Egipto para ponerse a salvo, ante los celos asesinos del rey Herodes.
Se representa aquí una escena en el taller de carpintería de la familia en Nazaret, con Jesús ya adulto con José y María, la víspera antes de partir para comenzar su ministerio (extrabíblico)
Hoy, la Iglesia San José en San Juan, Puerto Rico, vuelve a abrir sus puertas después de una reconstrucción masiva que tardó casi veinte años en completarse. Construida entre 1532 y 1735, es la restauración de la segunda iglesia española más antigua que se conserva en América. Providencialmente, esto coincide con la celebración del Año de San José, proclamado por el Papa Francisco.
